Parts of a Robot

Robotics looks into using the best type of robot for different scenarios. The hardware component is an important factor, especially when considering where each type would fit in well. To get the best results, the use or the environment whether air, water or land is placed into consideration. The continuous demand for robots in the twenty-first century has improved studies to identify the best forms for building. The robots that are sent to space or even in volcanic areas are modified to withstand heat as well as boosts to the hardware and software. Each robot is modified in order for it to work and give optimum results. The robot is divided into both hardware and software components and the following are some of its parts:

  • The Controller. This can be interpreted as the brain of the robot. Most people link the brain to the Artificial Intelligence. This basically gives orders and dictates what the robot has to do mechanically. Different robots use varied programming languages to take orders that are either spoken or keyed in and the controller does the rest. A set of programs or commands is incorporated into the controller which makes the machine do what it is supposed to do. It is termed Artificial Intelligence because it gives directives just like a human would do to his or her body but without being a real person. The controller is the core part of the robot whose working ensures the tasks are done.
  • Mechanical Parts. These are the physical parts that can be seen by the naked eye. They vary from each different type of robot and the environment that they are placed in. These parts are usually are powered mechanically using various components such as electricity or air. The body outline of the human-like robot usually has arms and fingers while the airborne ones such as drones consist of propellers for parts. These parts are usually involved in conducting the tasks especially those that involve moving and lifting objects.
  • Robots are programmed to do work that human beings are not able to do or to just be improved substitutes in cases of fatigue. This means that they should pick up the behaviors of men and improve them. The robot should react appropriately to changes in the environment and react to them. Meeting of obstacles in the way should bring out a reaction such as moving it aside or going around it. This ability of the robots to adapt to changes is brought about by the sensors on them. This is beneficial as it allows activities to be undertaken by the machines and the tasks to be completed.

For a robot to actually work well, the controller, mechanical parts and the sensor must be present. When one of these parts goes missing then the efficiency of the machine is reduced. These are the most basic parts of a robot aside from other secondary ones that help in the daily activities of the device. This aids in the normal running of the industry, military base, hospital or any other place that the robot is being used in.
